The past few months or so I have been crazily lusting over anything with sequins, a highly coveted trend sported by the likes of Blake Lively, Beyonce, and Kate Moss. The sparkly little things have been all over the runway since 2009 but two years on, they're still an ongoing trend, despite being a rather bold and conspicuous one.
I've already invested in a number of items glitzed up only ever so subtly with sequin collars and sequin beading, but I've always wanted a piece of clothing absolutely dripping in sequin appliques. Naturally I fell completely head over heels in love with this gorgeous little number from Chinese Ebay-like website Taobao, which to be frank was the reason I made my first order from Taobao. A total steal at ~$10 minus shipping!
This all-over sequin top is definitely anything but subtle, and probably one of the flashiest pieces in my wardrobe. I know if they hadn't hit the runway, if they weren't currently another recycled trend making a comeback from the 80s, then gaudy pieces like this would remain comfortably inside the shameful, daggy and "never wear in public unless it's for a joke or a tacky costume party where everyone is meant to look tacky which makes it OK to look tacky yourself" category of fashion disasters.
However whether people still consider it 80s disco, drag queen, or Kylie Minogue-wannabe showgirl style, I can't help but embrace with open arms, the brazen and uncompromisingly showy impact of a top like this, practically drowning in sequins galore. Definitely one the most fun and striking pieces I've ever owned!

I've switched iPad art applications from Brushes to Artrage, because it can be so ridiculously time-consuming limiting yourself to watercolours and pencils. With Artrage I can do much quicker sketches with the Texta tool!
