latest purchases + my exercise regime as requested

This is just a quick post to keep my blog flowing, because the weather has been an absolute funbag of rain, windiness and cold lately and so I haven't been able to take outfit pictures. Here is some sparkly and bright stuff I bought over the past few weeks to find some cheeriness under this dismally bleak sky.

from L-R:
glitter silver loafers from Shoe Box- $30-> $20
glitter ankle boots from Wanted- $120 -> $30
Siren kitten heels from Sheriton Shoes (for work)- $110-> $56

more under the link.

Neon yellow/lime green sweater from a boutique store $30

This sweater was the perfect way to ease myself into the "neon" trend without spending exorbitant amounts of money on "trendy" apparel a construction worker would probably be confused by, on account on having worn the exact same kind of bright fluorescent clothing every day of his working life.

You do get what you pay for though- the fit is a little poor as it's baggy around the shoulders but the sleeves are a bit too short for me. I want to do that thing where I can pull the sleeves down and use them as gloves but I think I will have to wear actual gloves with this.

Pyjama pants from Peter Alexander- reduced to $24

For some reason I am severely lacking in pyjama pants, so I had to go on a special shopping trip just to find something to keep my bottom half warm during that night. I went into Peter Alexander straight away as I can always count on them to deliver super cute designs (because you know, looking good is my number one priority for clothes where I'm the only person who gets to see them).

They're kind of a tacky design I guess (leopard print with pink hearts?) but I love it, I think it's the cutest thing ever!

Rohto Lycee eyedrops from adambeauty.com $8.50 USD
Revlon black kohl eyeliner $8 AUD
Kate dual eye liner from adambeauty.com $14 USD

So many beauty bloggers have been raving about these Rohto eyedrops for preventing the eyes from drying out when wearing contacts! I'm still yet to reach a point where my eyes are getting really uncomfortable, so I haven't tried the eye drops out yet.

On the Kate eyeliner, there are two ends. One side is the liquid eyeliner tip which is black, and is meant to create a nice thin line. The other side is brown, softer and spongey, and creates a more smokey eye effect. You can even combine the two ends by drawing on the black eyeliner first and then smoothing it out with the other softer tip. I thought the dual tips were pretty neat but I don't think I'll buy this product again. The liquid eyeliner part is not heavy enough and kind of watery, and I don't see myself using the soft tip much.

My exercise regime, as requested!

I've received a lot of compliments on my figure from people, and requests on my blog and Twitter for me to do a post on how I maintain it. I feel really hesitant about doing this because I don't believe I'm the poster girl for fitness at all lol, so I feel kind of guilty and undeserving to give out exercise tips.

I still eat a lot of processed food and I definitely don't do enough workouts for my arms and stomach. In the past year I have been gradually pushing myself out of the weight-obsessed mindset I have been in since highschool, and I have become a lot more lax about dieting and I have also gained a few kilos in the process (which is fine!).  It's kind of ironic that people have started asking me how I maintain my figure at a time when I've stopped caring so much. These days I to want work on improving my mental health as well as physical health, rather than trying to lose weight.

Nonetheless, I guess my strongest points are my legs and butt, and the good thing is that I do do exercises for them, so I'll just focus on talking about the exercises I do for those areas. Hopefully this will suffice!

Legs

I do running for cardio, sometimes on the treadmill and sometimes outside (which has a lot of areas with incline and decline). At home on the treadmill half of that running is with me holding dumbbells and the other half is with me running on an incline. The former helps tone up the arms and the latter helps tone the legs, especially thighs.

When I run I also switch up the speed, often going from fast bursts of running to power walking. I forgot the science behind it, but I have read some articles saying that interval running is much more effective at burning fat than maintaining the same pace, even if the interval running time overall is shorter.

Interval running demonstration

I run 30mins-60mins about 4 days of the week.

Butt

Recently I have been noticing my butt getting saggier and flatter, so I've been doing squats and other butt exercises, which also help in toning my legs. I never used to do butt exercises at all but in the past few months I have been doing so because of how much saggier it started to look.

When I watch tv shows on my computer I will do squats at the same time. Here is a video of how you're meant to do them right:

Squats

After only a few days of doing this I noticed the fat on my inner thighs becoming less noticeable. I didn't expect to see results this quickly, but when I use my hand to hit the inner thigh fat, it jiggles less lol.

The squats are also meant to create tighter glutes, and I combine them with further butt exercises. I downloaded the video below from Youtube and memorised the exercises. So when I watch my tv shows, I will switch up from the squats to going down on the floor and going through all the exercises in this video. Here is the video:

Butt exercises

I do these squats and butt exercises about 2-3 times a week. This is because I'm also still running and I don't want my thighs to be too sore.

I hope this has helped in some way! :)

Also I'm really overwhelmed by the amount of lovely feedback I got in my last couple of blog posts. I will get back to all you soon! :)

Those shoes are all gorgeous and I'm in love with your knit :)
Sounds like a pretty decent exercise regime - it's so much better than mine, which consists of walking down the stairs to get more food haha

  10. I love looking at Japanese cosmetics but I never have the guts to bring it to the counter. I get scared purchasing it for some reason because I can't read what the writing all says even though the product itself is self explanatory! I remember you mentioning that you worked out while watching pop asia, I would totally do the same thing only that I have no tv in my room which just makes it awkward if I do it in front of my family! haha! I salute you for sticking to this, specially how it's currently winter in Sydney!

  11. I'm loving those glitter boots!! The sheen is very nice and I can see them adding some real--ahem--sparkle :P to any outfit! And those pajama pants are cute. I never buy pajama stuff anymore because I'd rather spend my money on cute things. So I wear old wife beaters and boxer shorts. LOL. I like your exercise tips too. I absolutely hate running. HATE it. But I admire those who do it because I know it's a great way to lose weight and tone up. I'm going to try those butt exercises. Those look fun! <3

I don't worry about my weight that much either. I just try and even out all the unhealthy food I eat with healthy foods, which means I end up eating more BUT I find that my weight stays quite stable... so it's all good! I used to do squats while watching shows on my computer too! Multi-tasking is good haha. But I stopped... I'm so lazy now! -.-
