The other day I had a yearning to pull out this checkered crop jacket I bought off zipia.net a few years ago! With the influx of soft pastels and blinding neons taking the blogosphere and shops by storm lately, the dark bottle greens and mustards of this jacket seemed so out of place when people are rocking pastels even during winter. Nonetheless, I hate the idea of not being able to wear something just because it's not in trend anymore so I wore this anyway! To me the checkered pattern on the jacket embodies "preppy" but I wanted an edgier look. I popped on a pair of Le Specs shades, distressed denim shorts and these awesome faux-socks stockings with the line across the knee.
How adorable is this bird potion necklace? It's a little crystal-clear potion bottle with a tiny bird figurine sitting atop the cork lid. You can take off the cork lid and spray a bit of your favourite perfume inside, and open it any time you need a pick-me-up. The outfit was already a mish-mash of edgy, preppy and eclecticism; why not add a touch of sweetness? :) It was so difficult to pick something for the lovely people at Rire Boutique to gift over to me- they have so many sweet and feminine dresses, necklaces, bags and more.
In other news of my incredibly boring life- another semester of uni has started again and seems more tiring and tedious than ever upon knowing it's my last semester. Also, about two weeks ago I put myself on a chocolate ban so I can do a total overhaul of my shocking eating habits (processed sugar = like 90% of my daily intake). I'm quite picky when it comes to savoury foods so before I would sometimes each a block of chocolate or a packet of choc chip cookies and call it lunch. People are surprised that I haven't gotten diabetes yet. Right now I'm coping better than I expected...probably because I'm cheating with extra sugar in my coffee and the discovery of banana muffins *drools*
Oh and the song title is from Sassafras by Timmy Trumpet and Chardy, the latest electro gem I've been so obsessed with lately!
ps: and thanks so much to Lisa for featuring a previous look of mine in her digital magazine! I'm in the latest issue (18) of Just Another Fashion Magazine for the Ombre trend, and you can download the app for the iPad here.

I love this outfit so much! Preppy, chic, and just downright awesome! I've always loved plaids, but am picky in terms of finding the right balance of them in blazers, but yours is perfect :) People shouldn't follow trends, just make everything work for them and your wardrobe will be a happy chappy. I would've never considered pairing distressed denim with a cropped blazer, reminds me of a mish-mash of the film 'Clueless' somehow haha, but it works! Hang in there for uni, they decide to throw everyone onto us by the first couple of weeks, it's almost torture. Do you love blueberry muffins? Or banana bread?! They're glorious *__* Or raspberry cookies *__*
ReplyDeletefabulous as always :) love the blouse and fitted jacket!

You're on your last semester! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the stockings the most. They really make the entire outfit and gives it a bit of an edge!
I wear what I like, in season or not. I love that you rolled with it and did the same thing! The edgy vibe is right up my alley. (:
ReplyDeleteAs for food, ohhh man. I used to eat pretty much a steady stream of sugar cut with processed flour. That's changed (and I feel WAY less lethargic, lemme just say) as of late, but especially toward the end of university... it was pretty bad. I hope you continue to cope well and that your last semester flies by!
Great look! Love the blazer and shorts!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your outfit!
ReplyDeleteThe slashers are amazing and that jacket is perfection :)
Haha processed foods constitutes a very large part of my diet. It's just too delicious to give up hehe

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by my blog too,for your very sweet words and for following me too,it means so much :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you made this preppy cropped jacket, edgier with the torn shorts and tights, really mixes it up and puts your own twist on the look and is refreshing to see your own trend, like you said, not to follow and be bold and yourself and its worked!
Wish I had the strength to cut out my sugar intake, need to cut down but not going to happen :D
Hope your well and are having a wonderful weekend, thanks again for checking out my blog too x
Great outfit...love your shorts and stocking..<3
ReplyDeleteand the neklace is so cute...>•<
Hi doll, awesome look as always! I like this preppy-meets-rock-chic kind of look, great clash of two styles. Love that blazer/ Good Luck with Uni!
ReplyDeleteyou are smokin' in this outfit! good luck on your last semester! <3 :-)

Love the stockings chicky! I bought some similar the other week xx
ReplyDeleteI never thought that preppy would be able to work well with edgy, but I love this look! Your stockings are so awesome as well. I just love how these pieces are from entirely different worlds, but work so harmoniously together! And good luck with your no sugar diet. I tried it at the beginning of this winter (combined with no junk), but I reasoned with myself "It's winter...I need more fat to keep warm", so that plan was out the window before it started. But good job for keeping it up :P
ReplyDeleteSo hot!! I so wich I had your legs!!
ReplyDeleteOr wish :P

That sugar intake sounds like mine haha, I'm dropping my unhealthiness now too. I think the whole prospect of a new school semester coming up soon is getting me in the changing mood! And I think that a classic look will never look out of place even with a completely opposite trend in effect. Your outfit looks put together and the blazer and the plaid give it a timeless look, it'll work now and time and again. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gorgeous!! I have really similar tights but have only wore them with dresses at night, so it's great to see they can still look fabulous in a daytime outfit, as proved by how amazing you look here :) I eat wayyyy too much sugar too, I always have lollies in my bag and when my friends need a sugar fix, they know who to ask hahaha so bad...

i love ur blazer jacket! so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm just amazed that you could consume that amount of sugar and look like that! Lucky thing! But I have to agree, too much sugar makes one really groggy. I've been here long enough to forget how mild winter can be in Sydney and Auckland. I think I've only worn my shorts out 5 times before it got so cold that it's back to jumpers and jackets :(
ReplyDeleteLove your shorts! You look fabulous!

ReplyDeletei love your shorts!!! u are so lucky to be able to win this precious piece! how on earth u manage stay so slim with your high level of sugar intake. i am glad i don't have a sweet tooth (except for occasional macarons :P) else i would be fat as a pig & probably won't be able to squeeze through my door. hahaha.

ReplyDeleteAmazing!!! love it

I love your jacket so much. It is really gorgeous and one of the nicest jackets I have seen in awhile. I just love finding items that I bought many years ago and being able to still wear them. I am totally the same with junk food. I often have just coke, chips and chocolate for lunch. I am yet to have a successful chocolate ban though. I mean, I'm on a spending ban. I can't try too many new things at once, right? I can totally relate to how you are feeling about university. Yay for it being our last semester though.
ReplyDeleteLove your shorts!
ReplyDeleteThis jacket is just amazing, it has this really beautiful old school chicness. Love it to bits. Oh man, I do miss school life a lot. I hope you have a great last semester!

Such a clever way of styling it Izzy! Coincidentally, I'm planning on wearing a similar cropped jacket but with orange hues tomorrow (if the weather permits). Where do you put all that sugar? You look gorgeous all the time. So jealous of your metabolism. haha! I imposed a potato chips ban on myself too and is now starting (or attempting to) detoxify.

I'm new to your blog and I really love all your outfit shots. You are so gorgeous and your bf is such a talented photographerto bring out such beauty from his "model".
ReplyDeleteGood job with the edgey cum preppy look. It's refreshing. I too, hate the idea of not being able to wear something just because it's not in trend anymore. Most of the times, nobody really bothers too but I do crinch when know-it-all fashionista seem to think you can't do that.
PS:
