Latest additions to my wardrobe + Princess Mimi circle lens from Mukuchu + Lovelyshoes.net haul

"Ice Cream Sanity" Peplum skirt from Rosy Ruby
May "Benson Drill" shorts from ShopMarketHQ

click on the link below for LOADS more!

"Mia" neon cut-out dress from Nasty Gal $43.80 incl shipping (so bummed that it's so cheap now!!!! in all sizes too)
Style Stalker "The Frontin' Mini Dress" in Rhino from Karmaloop $69.20 incl shipping

I've been lusting after this particular dress from Style Stalker for such a long time, so I was super excited when I saw it was on sale at Karmaloop! It's currently out of stock there now but it's definitely floating around elsewhere.
Whenever I do my online shopping, I usually get whatever size the model is wearing, and this proves to be the right choice when I get to try the clothes on. On the particular model at Karmaloop I thought that the dress was one size too big for her, as it was crinkled up at the knot area and not tight-fitting. So I got the smaller size (size 2) believing that this would've been the better size for both of us.
When I tried it on I realised why the model was wearing the size larger lol. The size 2 is definitely perfect around the waist, but geez is it SHORT. I'm 169cm and I think if I was a centimetre taller this size wouldn't have cut it. The size 2 on me fits just under my butt but when I wear it out I won't be able to lean over at all!

"Manhattan" Red lace dress from Rosy Ruby
"Gothique" dress from Motel Rocks
Staple the Label 100% silk tee from ShopMarketHQ

Forever New tassel backpack $50
yay I wear backpacks to uni now. Still can't get used to it though!

"Peace" bracelet from ASOS $6.50
"Oui/Non" belt from ASOS $7.30
Head jewellery from Lovisa

Rings from Lovisa $17??

I've been looking for stackable, thin rings like these but as they're meant to be worn in combination, buying them individually means they get quite expensive. Luckily at Lovisa they were selling sets of these thin rings, and even better in various colours- rose gold, gold and silver. They even had a few triangle rings for something different.
They come in different sizes which you can wear at the base of your fingers or around the middle of the fingers. In any case, you can pretty much wear the rings however you want. This is my combination:

Princess Mimi Circle Lenses in Sesame Grey and Almond

(sorry for all the dust on my floor!!)

Princess Mimi in Almond, Princess Mimi in Sesame Grey from Mukuchu $40 incl shipping

This is not a sponsored post by the way! I have been ordering from Mukuchu for ages (unless I want a specific type they don't stock) as they're based in Australia, so shipping is cheaper and the lenses arrive faster. They also came with these lens cases which was very convenient.

in Sesame Grey

 in Almond

Although both are from the same range (Princess Mimi) they seem to have completely different looks when worn. Sesame grey gives more of a sexy and eye-catching sort of look, whereas Almond creates a very dolly and sweet look.

Comfort and enlargement:
These are the largest diameter lenses I own (are they 14.8 or 15mm? I keep on reading different sizes online!) but they are surprisingly comfortable. I wore Almond the other night for over 12 hours and it only got uncomfortable in the last few hours.

Design:
I keep on having bad luck with grey circle lenses and I never seem to find the right one. Although the pattern for sesame grey is quite unnatural (with the obvious spikes and outer black ring), I think overall they're quite attractive on my eyes and create the perfect enlarging effect. The more natural looking circle lenses I've tried before didn't actually turn out to look that great on my eyes, so I don't mind now if the design is unnatural-looking.
The design for the Almond ones is quite natural as it doesn't have all the heavy black spikes.
Nonetheless I still think both Almond and Sesame Grey require heavier eye makeup to balance out the large diameter of these lenses. Ideally I would've worn false eyelashes with these lenses but I couldn't be bothered in these pictures.

Lovelyshoes.net haul and review

This was my first time ordering from Lovely Shoes, which is another Asian wholesale website specialising in cheap shoes and bags. I haven't tried any of the bags but personally I believe it's a lot easier for a bag to look tacky and cheaply-made, than shoes. So I minimised the risk by ordering three pairs of shoes only!

I bought 3 pairs of shoes and paid ~$67 including shipping.

The 6 shoes (3 pairs) came tightly packaged together in individual plastic bags, in a manner which was very space-saving.

Nude pumps
size 37.
$10.78 USD

These pumps were so unbelievably high (14cm)! I've never had any trouble with ordering my European size (37) if that's the sizing the shoes are going by, but I think the higher the heel, the more likely the shoes will be tighter even if you are sticking with the one size. Struggled to get my feet in for a while but afterwards it wasn't actually that hard to walk around in these. Pretty happy with the quality of these shoes too.

5/5

 Metallic heels in Gold
size 37.
$13.68USD

I have to say that these looked pretty different to the photos, as in the stock photos there were hardly any marks or creases on the shoes, and the material just looked firm and sturdy. In real life however there are a few marks and scratches on the shoes probably due to packaging, so the metallic material doesn't have that classy, pristine image. The ankle straps are quite flimsy and have no structure. After being wrapped around the ankles however they don't look so bad.

4.5/5

  Metallic heels in Silver
size 37.
$9.57USD

Since this is just the same as the gold one above but in silver, the quality is pretty much the same. Don't know why this one is cheaper by a few dollars though, and it's out of stock anyway.

4.5/5

I paid about $67 in total via Paypal, where $34 was for the 3 pairs of shoes and $33 for shipping. I chose Aramex and I had a lot of trouble with this delivery service. I can't be bothered going into detail as they did end up delivering my package finally (I was even about to write a letter of complaint). However I really think there's some major communication issues within the company and lack of record-keeping, which leads to problems taking a long time to be resolved.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my experience with Lovely Shoes. They sent out my package a few days after I made my order. I may have been quite lucky though as I've read some negative reviews on Lovely Shoes, but they seemed to mainly concern items being out of stock and the issues with refunding. They sent out my package with a tracking number which I checked regularly.

Also I'm not sure if it's just me, but after creating my account and making an order on Lovely Shoes, there appears to be no record of my order in my profile. My profile only has my address details. It just makes it inconvenient to search for what you've ordered or to track what's happening with it (just in case eg. it's taking a while because it's just gone out of stock), until they send you the shipping confirmation email.

I think the shoes were well worth it for about $20 (including shipping), and where there were flaws I believe they were pretty minor and you are getting what you pay for. I would order again from Lovely Shoes! :)

  1. Sad to hear there were some communication issues with your shoes! But they look pretty nice, and I can't wait to see you wear them! Also really loving your recent purchases, especially the red lace dress.

  3. Lovely post. I love the new clothes you've gotten ^__^ especially your back pack, it's so cute! I think the grey mimi lenses look good on you :D very sultry ^^ Have you ever ordered from Sammy Dress? I admire your ability to order from wholesale sites, all the -ve reviews put me off going ahead w/ my purchases!

  4. I love the peplum skirt and May shorts! They're so quaint and perfect for Spring :) YAY Nasty Gal dress! I love cutout dresses and that looks so pretty! And the stylestalker dress, I can't wait to see you style it! Oh no I hate when the sizes are true to description, or if they're too vague. You could just... avoid sitting down in that dress? Hahaha T_T I've seriously gotta check out Motel Rocks new stock, that Gothique dress is insane! What a lovely staple tee, I haven't seen such a complimentary, popsicle green, how lovely! I saw that forever new bag today :O But I haven't worn a backpack since.. Year 9 or so haha.. I don't know, strap bags make me feel like they're pulling me back too much, but nude tassels are awesome! I'm liking your jewellery jaul Izzy, especially the Lovisa rings because the combinations of colours are really attractive! The sesame lenses really are sesame 0_0! You have the perfect eye shape to pull of these lenses, does that sound weird haha? Very sweet and doe-eyed looks! Three shoes for $67 is quite a bargain! And I laughed that the packaging, not in a dismissive way but as in a 'I can't believe they played shoe Tetris so well' in the box haha! Those nude pumps look so unbelievably high! I really like how the platform and shoe sole itself don't have that dodgy seam that usually divides the platform, but that it all blends in, what a steal! The Metallic shoes in gold, I wouldn't have been sold unless it was said to be silver but the metallic finish doesn't seem to be like a harsh-chrome, it looks quite pleasing :) But it's a shame the ankle straps don't have much structure.

I'm loving your new dresses and those May shorts and the peplum skirt is so amazing :)
Those shoes are also pretty fantastic (love those silver ones the most hehe) - although the shipping is pretty steep. But hey, they are still definitely worth it

  32. Wow, I don't know how you found the first pair of heels comfortable to walk in. xD The sesame grey and almond lenses look really nice on you. Sesame greys definitely aren't natural looking, and need ridiculous amount of makeup so you don't look wacky in real life though. o.o;; I love wearing backpacks to uni though, so much more convenient than a huge handbag! (Plus I can't fit my lunch any other way xD)

  53. Goodness me, those pumps! *in love*

I can't wait until you model them and tell us the comfort level of wearing them! I honestly could never wear 14cm heels! I envy those people who wear heels that high and walk around as if they're just extensions of their legs.

I really love the Forever New backpack as well! Is it recent? I did a sweep through there yesterday and didn't see it on display!

Congratulations with the grad position at the ABS! And thanks for sharing your experience with law. I did start law and drop it. . .and now I absolutely miss it. AHAH. I've had so many chances to study law at undergraduate and postgraduate level but it's never felt right. My classmates were really enthusiastic about law. A lot of them had dreams of becoming barristers, human right lawyers, politicians. . .one guy was pretty keen on being PM in the near future. LOL. And that's honestly intimidating. I started to doubt myself and my goals. Not to mention my law friends all telling me how difficult it is to get a job at the end of it. As the years went by, most of them ended up being unhappy and grumpy people. Some straight out quit and stuck with their other degrees, which was Arts.

I graduated with an Arts degree with a tinge of legal studies to it. That's another thing that I worried about - not having enough to fall back on should law not work out. At least with your Comm/Law, you had somewhere else to go with it. Gah! And the worst thing is that I miss studying law. GAH! What's wrong with me?! LOL.

    Sorry for the info dump!
