It's all the small things

Hearts cut out blouse: c/o Lookbookstore (link here)
Crochet shorts: Ebay
Aztec printed wedges:
Tassel backpack: Forever New
hi guys! Today I'm showing what I consider to be a really casual outfit, but it's all the details in each piece that make it a bit more special :) For example, for what could be a simple blouse in one of my favourite colours (mint), the heart cut-outs in the back of this Lookbookstore blouse just make it so much more interesting! With the tassel backpack, it's all the little tassels hanging at the end of the zips, and studded detail that give a simple backpack a cute bohemian vibe. And of course the aztec print on these new wedges from add even more cute detail!

With jewellery, I also chose small, dainty pieces that all stack up to look really pretty together.

24k gold plated Alegro Name Necklace, c/o ONecklace (link here)
(wearing with my wishbone necklace from ebay)

I also didn't get a chance to photograph my necklace individually that day! I love wearing it though, so here's a snap on another day of me wearing it. It's a personalised name necklace from I prefer people calling me 'Izzy' but when the name is immortalised on something like a beautiful piece of jewellery, I think the aesthetics of my full name 'Isabel' looks so much better than the nickname.
You can choose different variations of how you want your name to look. There are plenty of other types of personalised name necklaces on ONecklace, and you can choose ones with different fonts, added lines, hearts, in circle design, and so much more! You can check out the range here :)

How to wear: Crop Tops (and feel comfortable and confident about it!)

Hey guys! I'm back with another how-to blog post with video. This one is on Crop tops, and how you can wear them with comfort and confidence. I've seen crop tops pop up everywhere lately in the fashion scene, and they have been such a summer staple. However I know a lot of people have shyed away from it, including myself, finding crop tops too risque for my personal taste, or not being confident enough to show any amount of my midriff!

However I've made a video to show you guys that crop tops can be totally wearable for the modest girl, and they can actually be really flattering, sophisticated not trashy, and versatile.

You can check out the video on my channel here :)

Crop Top #1
Black cross-over back crop top from

This crop top is demure enough at the front with the round neckline and t-shirt sleeves, but the back is what makes it daring. The back is low-cut , and is mostly bare except for the criss-cross design.

Wearing a crop top with high-waisted bottoms= a flattering shape
Fear you can't wear crop tops due to the absence of a rock-hard six-pack? Don't fear, the top of your waist right underneath your ribcage tends to be the most flattering and slimmest part of your waist. If you flash only that part of your midriff, and cover up the rest by wearing a high-waisted pair of bottoms like these shorts, you actually get to create a flattering and slim silhouette.

Tight fit on top + Loose fit on the bottom = balance
My next tip is to pair the crop top with loose-fitted bottoms. The top is tight-fitted, so the bottom should be loose in order to balance the look out. This is especially the case when the back is quite revealing- to have a tight top, tight bottom, and lots of skin in between might be too much for daytime wear.

Crop top + high-waisted bottoms without having to show any midriff
If you would rather not flash any belly at all, it's also heaps easy to pair a cropped top with a bottom that is high-waisted enough to cover up the whole midriff area. This skirt has a thick elastic, which means that it can act as an extension of the top. As the top is cropped, this means you don't have to tuck it into the bottom and worry about any fabric bulges!
This skirt also has a very voluminous shape to balance out the tight top.

Crop Top #2
Denim bustier with spikes from

Combine edgy + sweet = chic (not OTT!)
At first glance this denim bustier seems very Madonna, 80s sexy- but you can totally create a more cute and demure look with it!
I've often found that when you pair an edgy item with a more sweet and innocent item, it creates a juxtaposition that very chic, trendy and it basically works! So the bustier is the edgy part, with the denim fabric and spikes around the neckline, and around the sides. This white eyelet skirt fulfills the sweet part. Paired together, the result is simply chic. Plus, white and denim has a very modern and trendy feel to it!

Chunky outerwear tones down a sexy look
If you are still tentative about showing this much skin, not a problem! A chunky cardigan thrown over is sooo handy, because the baggy shape is really good at masking part of your figure. The legs are still exposed, and the midriff still bare, so the overall look is more toned down but not in a frumpy way.

Crop Top #3
Black and white striped off-shoulder, long-sleeved crop top from Mink Pink

Crops tops can come in designs and cuts that work best for your body shape
Personally I'm not a huge fan of showing my arms, so I appreciate the fact that this top has long sleeves! I'm alright with showing a bit of shoulder and stomach though, as this top is still crop topped and has an off-the-shoulder neckline. If you are proud of your arms, but don't like your stomach so much for example, there are also plenty of options out there that are sleeveless and are a bit longer than this crop top (and you can wear a high-waisted pair of bottoms with). The variety in crop top designs allow you to freely pick and choose whatever you feel most comfortable with!

Choosing the right fabrics to help tone down your look
Once again I paired this top with a skater skirt, that has a flared shape to even out the tight fit of the crop top. You can further tone down a sexy look in your outfit, by choosing the appropriate fabrics. Because the top has a tight-fitted, bodycon kind of material, it's a great idea to pair it with something that is totally daytime material. This skirt for example is made out of corduroy, which is probably one of the unsexiest fabrics there ever lived! You find it on jackets, pants and even overalls. The corduroy material, green shape and skater shape all help turn this outfit away from sexy and revealing, to playful and fun.

Cropped jacket over cropped jacket + high-waisted bottoms : keeps your shape
If you still want to cover up, feel free to pop over a jacket! A cropped jacket is the most flattering thing to put over a high-waisted skirt, as it helps keep your shape. the crop top also helps create a cinched-in look, at the waist.

Crop Top #4
White floral bustier from Love Culture

Crop top + Pencil skirt = classy
You can totally transform a look from too sexy to sophisticated, when you wear a pencil skirt! i chose a skirt that was mid-length, so I wouldn't show too much leg, in order to balance out the top. This one can end just above the knees, but I wore it a bit higher to expose less midriff. The peplum flare on this skirt also adds extra volume and prevents the look from being skintight from head to toe.

Because of the length of the skirt I would prefer to add a pair of mid-length heels as well, to help keep the legs looking elongated.
(sorry! I know you can barely see the detail on the blazer!)
Blazer over Crop top = classy
Personally I'd prefer to cover my arms, and I'd wear a light blazer over this outfit, which gives it a more sophisticated look in an instant.

Crop Top #5
Black and white striped, loose-fitted crop top from Sportsgirl

Casual, baggy crop top = totally versatile!
Crop tops by themselves don't always have to be super skin-revealing or flashy. This one from Sportsgirl has such a baggy, loose fit and a simple striped design- that makes it sooo easy to wear anything with it!
You can wear it with high-waisted shorts, for a really casual look that I think would be perfect for the beach. You don't even have to show any part of your midriff in this look!

Bcause this crop top is so casual, this is one case where I think you can still actually wear low-rise bottoms with it and the overall look won't be too revealing. I wore this with my Onituska Tiger sneakers for a sporty casual look!

Hope you guys found this post useful, and came away with some handy tips on how you can wear crop tops with confidence :) If you want to see the post in video form, the link to my Youtube channel is here.

a dash of summer

White floral bustier: Love Culture
High waisted denim shorts: Love Culture
Ombre denim shirt: Valleygirl
Neon yellow bag: Missguided
It's still winter in Australia, yet somehow we've been enjoying balmy sunny days reminiscent of what we experience in the middle of February! Nothing could be more exciting than stepping out in the sunshine and being pleasantly surprised by the warm rays that greet us.

I wore my new cream bustier from Love Culture which I didn't think I'd get too many wears out of during this season, and I minimised how much skin I flashed with a baggy denim shirt worn open. I've never really been much of a denim fanatic, and I'm glad to say I'm loving my very first foray into the denim on denim ensemble!

I didn't really want to go entirely monochrome with my denim on denim attempt, so I paired together two denim pieces that have some interesting varying shades of blue. My new shirt from Valleygirl has a gorgeous dip-dye effect and these shorts from Love Culture have a funky splodge design.

Silver is a really fresh metal that I thought suited this light-wash denim and white outfit more than gold. I added a bit of silver with the hardware on the bag, rings, and the spikes on these black platforms.

Unfortunately the 'summer' was short-lived and it's back to cold, wintry days now. Hope everyone else is experiencing great weather! :)

Outfits featuring Chicnova, Momomko Fashion, and Suck is Free

Tropical bird blouse: c/o Chicnova (link here)
Bracelet: Colette
Satchel bag: Chaceylove

Hey guys, this is a really quick blog post to show you what's been making their way into my wardrobe recently! First of all is this super fun and gorgeous tropical printed blouse from Chicnova! It's just such a lovely and bright print filled with beautiful purple, pink and blue pops of colour. The black sheer sleeves and collar help tone it down a bit and makes it wearable for work as well.

Bird blouse: c/o Momomko Fashion (link here)
high waisted scalloped shorts:

The lovely owner of Momomko Fashion contacted me recently and sent over this super lovely gold printed bird blouse! As has been quite obvious from my posts, I adore mint and can't get enough of it- and this one is just that extra bit unique by having a sparkly gold bird print on it.

Suck is Free Snapback cap: c/o Suck is Free, This is Fortunate

I've never really been one for snapbacks but I'm glad I got this one, because I'm loving it so much! It looks great over casual wear and I definitely want to get into the sporty trend that's been taking off lately. The Suck is Free logo is so cute, and I really love the design underneath the cap as well!

Suck is Free is a new designer from Hong Kong, and has some of the funkiest pieces influenced by the psychedelic 60s and electro grunge 90s. Think eyeballs and dizzying tie-dye prints :) You can check out their latest lookbook "U Know I Am No Good" here

Can't be tamed

Fringed bodysuit: c/o MissGuided (link here - on sale at 40% off now! don't miss out :))
Ombre denim shorts:
Studded bag: Sportsgirl
Cross necklace: Low Luv
How amazing is it that a fringed piece can create such a dramatic and spectacular shape? As soon as you open your arms in this bodysuit from MissGuided, you can create such a show-stopping effect with an edgy bohemian vibe.
I don't usually wear bodysuits, but sometimes you just need to because they help create such a streamlined effect on your torso, and you don't have to worry about fabric bumps and creases. I particularly think a bodysuit fits this fringed look perfectly, so that you can really emphasise the dramatic silhouette!
You always get an  interesting and statement look with this fringed bodysuit, as every slight breath from the wind will ruffle it up with different movements. You really can't control it in photos and there were so many takes we had to delete because the fringing looked so wild and getting in my face too! It's like that Miley Cyrus song "can't be tamed" haha.
And just to accompany the fringe hanging from the arms, I also complemented it with the frayed hem of these new shorts from :) Something subtle so that the whole look isn't too crazy or overwhelming!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! :) on a totally random note, I'm trying to get a tan! Does any one have any good recommendations for a gradual tanner? I'm thinking of St Tropez or Dove Summer Glow!

Hop Shop Go haul: Forever 21, Love Culture order and reviews, Valleygirl, other purchases

This is another blog post featuring a collective haul I made recently! :) I made orders from Love Culture, Forever 21, Valleygirl, Glassons and Chicabooti.

I also made a Youtube video of this collective haul, where I talked about and modelled all the pieces from the haul as well. You can find screenshots down below.

Forever 21 and Love Culture
(via HopShopGo)

If you've read my blog posts on it before, I've regularly used HopShopGo to help me make purchases from US-based online stores that don't ship to/have very pricey shipping to Australia. HopShopGo is basically a mail forwarding service, that creates a US address for you so that you get things shipped within the US. Then, HopShopGo will arrange the international shipping from the US to Australia for you.

Even though you have to pay to HopShopGo various service fees (even fuel surcharge, and insurance), + international shipping from the US address to your home address, I've still found it cheaper than actually getting stuff shipped from particular online-based US stores directly.

You can read a more detailed review of my HopShopGo experience here. All my previous orders are here, here, here.

Love Culture don't ship to Australia, and (as I've always blabbed on about) Forever 21 international shipping is really expensive, so I used HopShopGo for those two particular orders.

  1. My LoveCulture order was about $77 (free domestic shipping for orders over $50)
  2. Forever 21 order was about $68 (free domestic shipping for orders over $50)
  3. I also made a third order from for my little sister (about $30 for a stuffed cat!)
so it was about 3kgs altogether for those 3 packages.

HopShopGo charged me:
  • International shipping of $37.80
  • fuel surchage of $3.36
  • Mandatory insurance of $1.34
  • repackage fee of $3.00

This was the first time HopShopGo gave me a repackage option, which I was really pleased about. The repackage option can be really nifty, and only comes up if HopShopGo thinks that they can discard some unnecessary packaging in a way that helps you save on shipping fees in the end. It came up as an option for me this time, and it told me that choosing this repackaging option would help me save about $14.40. Of course I selected it! :) I still had to pay a repackage fee of $3.00 though which I think is a bit silly, because it's like you having to pay to save, but oh well...

I received everything about a week, from the date of shipment. Love the fast express shipping!

Love Culture
Total cost was about $77, for 3 pieces.

(colour shown in the picture above is more true to colour ie wine red/purple, I don't know why it's so orangey-red in my video!)
Wine blouse- $19.90
size: s

I'm absolutely in love with this blouse! I just fell in love with the really rich, fuchsia colour and for some reason it shows up as more of a warm red in the video, but it's actually more of a cool red/purple in real life. you can roll the sleeves up to wherever you want. It's unbelievable it was even less than 20, because the colour's just so amazing, material is so smooth and soft, and it looks much more expensive that this.

white bustier- $21.95
size: s
I've been looking all over for a really cute white or cream coloured bustier! I just keep finding ones that look too much like lingerie or they're more like bralets, so they're realllyyy short. This one is great because it's actually more mid-length for a bustier, and it's got adjustable straps so you can even pull it down a bit over your stomach. Such a great buy at only $22.

I'll be pairing this together with so many outfits, especially for the spring coming up! :)

high waisted denim shorts- $34.90
size: s
I really, really gravitate towards high-waisted denim shorts; I just think that they are an absolute summer staple. I love the distressed design on the front and the frayed hem on the bottom. The design is also pretty interesting with the blue splodges! Definitely a welcome addition to my denim cutoff collection :)

Forever 21

Total cost of my Forever 21 order= $67.60.
‘open front geo cardigan’- $29.80
Size: S

This was an impulse buy, because I'm all over Aztec printed anything these days, but everything I've seen is always in black and white! So when I saw this neon Aztec printed cardigan I thought it looked realy funky, so I got it. Totally adore the geometric shapes, kinda reminds me of a retro arcade game, or something (I don't know, I never played arcade games lol).

‘high-low open knit sweater’- $16.50
Size: S
Colours: black, mint

This is just a really cute, basic knit jumper. It's actually been quite the mission to find a simple sweater that is actually fitted, not too long and not too chunky! So I'm really happy I found these, at such a bargain and at exactly what I wanted. It's also cut longer at the back.

I got both black and mint, one for practicality and one for indulging my love for mint! :)

‘Bicycle necklace’- $4.80

I got this because I thought it was just so cute and quirky! I thought 4.80 was such a good price for a cute necklace like this, but unfortunately as soon as I put it around my neck, it fell apart.

The links on the chain are really tiny so I simply couldn't reconnect it to the bicycle pendant. I will probably need to replace the chain which is quite annoying and silly...that will probably cost me almost as much as the necklace itself! Has anyone else had Forever 21 jewellery fall apart for them? I've bought heaps of cheap jewellery before in my lifetime but I think this is the worst quality of them all!

size: s

ombre denim shirt $30
I've tried denim shirts on instore before, but I just didn't like the way they looked on me...I can't quite pinpoint it but they never seem to suit me, I don't know if it's because I'm too feminine for them or what. This one is ombre though so that makes me want to get it, even if it doesn't look great on me haha :) I guess wearing fitted bottoms underneath is ok as it balances out the loose fit of the shirt on top. I like wearing the shirt open as well, with a cute fitted top inside.

floral jeans $25
Such a bargain at only $25! I only tried these on just for fun as I was never in the mindset to get floral jeans, but I actually loved them! The floral print is really fun and I love how tight-fitted and comfy these are. The material's thinner than regular jeans, which I prefer. I reckon these should've been more expensive than the denim shirt, but I'm not complaining! :)

Glassons: Brown knit cardigan $30ish?, Chicabooti: Mustard yellow knit cardigan $30
You can tell I'm really into knits these days, can't you? I really loved the coffee-ish colour on this knit, it's just such a pleasant and also versatile shade. There's buttons down the middle, you can wear it open or closed, and overall it's very warm and cosy. I think I got this reduced from 60 to about 30, I don't remember, but that's actually pretty cheap for clothes in Australia. This is so great for cold weather, I'd totally wear this with boots and a slouchy beanie or something.

Unfortunately I I have already got soo many holes in this, I just keep snagging it on everything! :(

These are just some more pictures of my new mint green jumper from Forever 21, and the new floral jeans from Valleygirl :)
Once again, these screenshots come from this Video I uploaded, where I talked about and modelled the pieces from this collective haul.

Hope you guys found this haul post useful! Have you guys ever ordered from these stores before? It was my first time getting stuff from Love Culture and I was so impressed with everything, will definitely be ordering again! :)

And sorry guys that I haven't been replying to blogs or anything recently! I have been super busy but I'm expecting some downtime soon so I'll be more active :)

Roses and Ruby

Red lace dress: c/o LookbookStore (link here)
Horse bag: ASOS
Floral wreath: Urban Outfitters
Red shoes:

I am not usually one to wear red, and especially not feature red pieces all-over! However purple is definitely one of my favourite colours and this very rich, almost-berry shaded dress from LookbookStore was a winner in my books. A dark red combined with lace has a kind of regal feel about it, don't you think?

I'm excited to feature this red rose floral wreath for the first time as well! The piece just seems very rich and heavily romantic and I haven't had the opportunity to feature it in my lighter kind of looks.

I also uploaded a video featuring this look here! If you like it don't forget to subscribe to my new YouTube channel here :)
