Sapphire Elegance

'Edith pleated playsuit': c/o Thea by Thara (link here)
Double breated layer coat: c/o Lookbookstore (link here)
Belt: Dotti
Shoes: Missguided
Clutch: Choies
Heart necklace: Rings and Tings
Arty Ring: YSL

How lovely is this pleated playsuit from Thea by Thara? I've always loved collecting cute little playsuits and rompers for summer, and this one is an elegant and sophisticated addition that I can easily wear out for night time too. The sapphire blue is both calming and striking, and complements black accessories so well! The fitted bodice and flared bottoms make it so flattering and adds a playful, girly touch.

And how great is this $2 belt from Dotti? It IS just a simple belt after all, but I've pulled it out so many times to perform wonders on cinching an outfit together, or just to create a more defined waist. Once again, I was able to use it again to complement this playsuit.

It's getting colder in Sydney now, so I wore my new double breasted jacket from Lookbookstore over the romper! It's more like a lightweight trench coat, so it's perfect right now for transitioning into winter where I'll have to pull out my long-sleeved, thicker coats. I love the contrast of the apricot and navy!

What I'm Happy About Week 6

Morning guys! Here's Week 6 of my Happiness series. I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! To read more about what this series means to me you can check out the first blog post here :)

1. Collared blouses

Collar blouse: c/o Awwdore (link here)
Blue flare skirt: c/o Banggood (link here)
Shoes: Sammydress.com
Bag: The Little Black Bag

How good are collared blouses? You can get so many different styles of collars, from Peter Pan styles, ruffles, sequins, studded ones, lacy, and unique cut-out ones like this one I'm wearing here! You can create a preppy, edgy or feminine look, depending on the style of collar you wear. I love how the collar alone can be such a stand-out and intricate piece, that pulls together your outfit without the need for a necklace or other accessories. Annnd even better is that you can wear a sweater on top, and pull out just the collar!

My collared blouse here is from one of my favourite online boutique stores for cute and feminine fashion- Awwdore.com! The collar has a sort of girly, yet gothic vibe to it- the intricate amd delicate cut outs remind me of spider webs but in the most feminine and pretty way haha. The sleeves are also sheer, which provides another cute point of contrast on this blouse. This is such a perfect pretty little piece for the autumn (fall) and winter seasons, and you can pair it with so many things! Here I've worn it with a flared skirt from Banggood in a bright, electric blue shade for a pop of colour that totally suits the cooler weather.

2. New camera gear
So as you guys know I've been taking my own photos lately infront of my house and with my trusty old remote and tripod...but I've still been borrowing my boyfriend's camera (Canon EOS 5D Mark II) as my current gear doesn't take such nice photos outdoors. So last week I bought a Canon EOS 6D which happened to go on sale as soon as I wanted to get it...I love how things work out like that! I managed to get the body only for $1615. I also bought a new lens (Sigma 35mm 1.4) which I got a really discount for as well! I haven't taken a pic of it yet as I haven't received it, but it's definitely on its way. Camera gear can be a bit of a hefty investment but if the output is fulfilling enough (for me it's for the continuation of my fashion blogging) then it's definitely all worth it!

3. Good noms
This week (and last week...who can forget the damage done over the long Easter weekend??) I have been doing a lot of feasting! I have been eating out every. Single. Day. And not on rabbit food- but I feasted on all my favourites like lamb chops, steak, chips, Turkish food and Mexican food....I was happy enough to visit my favourite two restaurants recently, Margaritaville (http://www.margaritavilleaustralia.com/) and Chef's Gallery (http://www.chefsgallery.com/).
I have never liked Chinese food but I just keep coming back and back to Chef's Gallery....! When I went on the weekend and ordered my food, the waitresss actually told me that maybe I should stop there and order the rest of the food later....I have never been told that by the restaurant that I'm ordering too much before! Haha that was a pig-like moment right there.
Pictured here is one of my favourite dishes there, the salt and pepper handmade egg and spinach tofu. There is the most amazing contrast between the crunchy skin and the soft tofu texture inside! It was the first time my boyfriend said that he actually enjoyed tofu...just like how it was the first time I liked eating at a Chinese restaurant haha!

Pictured here is one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life! It was so tender and soft and perfect! I got them with mushroom sauce which went perfectly together with it, and also these beer-battered chips were some of the most amazing chips I've ever had.

Forever Mine

'Forever Mine Lacework' dress: c/o St Frock (link here)
Red rose floral crown: Urban Outfitters
Birdcage necklace: Diva
Shell bracelet: c/o Rings and Tings (link here)

Here is the full blog post of the preview I made in this post here! This dress from St Frock called 'Forever Mine lacework'  is one of the dreamiest dresses I own now- the floral cutouts and off-shoulder design make it so fairytale-like, elegant and also gives it a bohemian touch. When the weather gets warmer I'll definitely need to take this dress out again...it's so perfect for spring! St Frock is an Australian-based online boutique and you can check them out here, and they also have a physical store in Pyrmont, Sydney!

I originally wanted to stick with the red rose crown and the matching red shoes, but I started to abandon the crown and then I didn't like how the outfit looked with just the red shoes haha. I really need to spend more time at home planning the outfits! #bloggerproblems I really like the boho, spring vibe encapsulated by the floral wreath but at the same time the dress is sexy, classy and modern. I guess it just shows how versatile it is- you can wear it in many different ways and create different looks from it!

Double Grid

Dotted top: c/o DRMERS (sold out currently)
Plaid skort: Colors of Aurora
XO Necklace: c/o Rings and Tings (link here)
PU leather white cap: Soles
Chunky flatforms: eBay

I feel like my style must look like it's all over the place haha....I have a tendency to drift towards all things girly, floral with a bit of boho, but at the same time I'm so keen to try different looks and play with different ways of wearing things. In today's look I'm experimenting with a sporty, fresh image with a double grid pattern on the dotted top and plaid skort. I don't usually mix prints but I think as long as you keep the colour palette understated and the prints don't clash too much with each other, you can totally pull it off! I tried to go for a sporty, clean look with bright white accessories and the casual, boxy cut of the top.

This top is from Drmers, a Singapore-based online boutique selling a great collection of cute, on-trend pieces in unique and modern designs. This exact grid top is currently sold out on the website, but there's a similar sweater in black-and-white houndstooth print in a matching sweater/skirt set here. Check out Drmers' Facebook and Instagram here! :)

Here I'm wearing another cute jewellery piece from Rings and Tings again! This time it's a necklace with an 'XO' pendant, with a chunky chain to complement the grid print of the clothes. I usually prefer dainty, pretty jewellery items with thin chains, but the thick shape seemed to suit the outfit so well, and there's a certain elegance about the 'XO' pendant that tones down the 90's hip-hop throwback of the chunky chains :)

Thanks for everyone's lovely comments on my previous blog post too. I really adore the blogging community, and all the sweet people in it! :)

What I'm Happy About Week 5

The fifth installment of my Happiness series has come a day late! I've been too caught up in stuff over the Easter long weekend, but technically today (Tuesday) is the official start of the working week right? :) Anyway to read more about what this series means to me you can check out the first blog post here :)

1. The power of illusion in fashion
Cat jumper: c/o Romwe
Striped leggings: c/o Romwe
Meow beanie: Boohoo.com

So how many of us would love to look like we have skinnier waists, slimmer thighs or longer legs through our clothes? Not that there's anything wrong with the way we look, but it's always fun to find clothes that help create an illusion of what we would love to have :)

When Romwe first sent me these leggings I could immediately tell that it ticked all the boxes to be a sneaky, ultra-flattering piece- it had vertical stripes, thick lines, and was made of stretchy, tight-fitting material to really cling to your legs. When you pair it with some tall platform boots, you can really create a long, streamlined effect from the hips down, and the vertical stripes help in elongating and pulling your eye up and down that whole section.

As a result I probably look like I have much longer legs in the photos than I actually do! In real life my torso is quite long compared to my legs haha....but in fashion if you pull the right tricks you can definitely create a different illusion :)

2. Your support!!

I did a giveaway with Blake & Co recently, and I'm also doing my own giveaway sometime soon! I recently hit over 11,000 followers on my Lookbook.nu account (http://lookbook.nu/drstrangelove) and I also hit over 34,000 followers on Instagram (http://instagram.com/_izzi) some time ago...I really never, never thought I could get such big numbers! I'm so super duper grateful haha. So for that reason, I've been thinking of setting up my own giveaway as a little thanks for everyone's support. It will go up either next week or the week after! :) Thanks so much to everyone again!

3. A turnaround in mindset

I did a photoshoot with a friend over the weekend, and found this unexpectedly happy candid! Looking at it honestly makes me really proud of what I've achieved in my life, especially in terms of flipping my entire mental outlook around and making my best efforts to maintain it. I seriously went from a person who thought negative thoughts and about suicide every single day, to someone who can't wait to take onboard new opportunities, experiences and challenges. I went from dreading the next day, to being so super excited and hopeful for the future and all the plans and goals I've made for it.

I know a lot of people struggle so much to find happiness and keep a smile up. Being happy is not as easy as flipping a switch, and it takes soo much work and effort, on a constant basis. It could take years and years before a small change in attitude is made. But I promise that if you keep on persisting to embrace positivity, you will reach a point where you look back at all the mental strength you've developed and gained, and it will absolutely take your breath away :)

Berry Tropical

'Montana Silver Haze' hat: c/o Lack of Color (link here)
Tropical printed top: c/o Motel Rocks (link here)
Eyelet shorts: Dolly Girl Fashion
Necklace: Sportsgirl
Sunglasses: c/o Sunglass Spot (link here)

The other day I received this amazing, wide-brim fedora hat from the lovely people at Lack of Color! I've always been a big fan of hats because they can really pull an outfit together and give it that extra edge. I was really drawn to Lack of Color's collections, because of the lovely range of unique colours, and the beautiful structure and shape of their fedoras. Combined with the fact they're made from premium Australian wool, these hats are genuinely high quality and look like it.

The one I'm wearing here is my favourite from Lack of Color, and it's called the 'Montana Silver Haze'! It's an absolutely stunning piece, with the silver metallic bow ribbon and refreshing pastel grey shade. Make sure you check out Lack of Color - they're Aussie-based and even stock some of their amazing stuff in David Jones :)

To add some fun into the outfit, I paired the hat with this raspberry-red cami from Motel Rocks! The fern print gives it such a happy vibe and I love the relaxed look of the spaghetti straps and straight cut. I also love these sunnies from Sunglass Spot- the sides are so quirky and fun!

I have to say I've been really, really enjoying taking my blog post pictures all by myself! I can get so much more done now, as I have sooo many outfits and looks to show you guys and I love being able to keep pumping out more and more. Before I would have to go maybe 2 weeks without a post, which was really frustrating as I like to keep things moving quickly and being as productive as I possibly can. It may seem so silly, but being overwhelmed with photos to take and stuff to post, makes me ridiculously excited!

Also don't forget to check out my Giveaway post with Blake & Co to win a $100 gift card from them (open to everyone internationally!) The contest ends on Tuesday GMT +8, and the winner will be announced on Blake & Co's Facebook page on Wednesday.

Nine to Five - Blake & Co Giveaway!

'Symmetrical brush stroke dress': c/o Blake & Co (link here)
Stone necklace: c/o Rings and Tings (link here)
Bag: Prada
Cuff: Colette Accessories
Gold cap heels: Portmans

Good morning guys! Most of my outfits tend to be for the weekend and for casual days, since work outfits can get so boring and repetitive. I have only featured work outfits on my blog a few times before, and you can check out my blog post and video on Making Work Outfits Fashionable here.

So I was really  happy to have recently discovered Blake & Co, a Singapore-based boutique selling a lovely range of classy and contemporary pieces that suit both work and play! In this post I'm wearing my favourite piece from Blake & Co: an elegant slim-fitted black dress, with a stunning symmetrical printed brush stroke design on the front and back. It's classy enough for the office, but also modern and trendy! I love how the brushstroke design doesn't extend all the way over both hip sides, which means the dress makes your waist seem smaller and is really flattering! :)

Blake & Co Giveaway

I've also paired up with Blake & Co to do a giveaway. Stand a chance in winning a $100 dollar Blake & Co gift card! They also ship internationally so this contest is open for everyone :)

All you have to do is:
  1. like their Facebook page at http://on.fb.me/1h2E9Ns,
  2. follow their Instagram http://bit.ly/Robjm3
  3. follow my Instagram athttp://bit.ly/1h2EhfT
  4. and like this Instagram post!

Contest ends on Tuesday, GMT + 8 and the winner will be announced on Blake & Co's Facebook page on Wednesday, 2pm GMT+8.

This gorgeous faux stone necklace is also kindly gifted from Rings and Tings, an amazingly cheap jewellery online store I've featured in the past as well. And they also ship worldwide! This necklace looks expensive, but it's actually the biggest steal at only 5.5 pounds (about 9-10 USD). I absolutely love finding cheap little jewellery pieces and dressing them up to look a lot more pricey than they actually are!

Duchesse Paris

Top: c/o Duchesse Paris (link here)
Star studded denim shorts: Factorie
Mint green parka: c/o IAnyWear
Aztec fringe backpack: Sportsgirl
Boots: Verali

Parkas are always a wonderful staple piece for cooler weather! When it's not cold enough for thick coats, I love throwing on a lightweight outer garment that prevents you from looking bulky or overly warm. I always find myself reaching for this one in particular, as I love the laidback , effortless vibe it instantly creates over any casual outfit.

Inside I've worn a new speckled tee from Duchesse Paris, which has a really cute stag head motif on the front! I don't know if anyone else has seen the tv show Hannibal, but I can't stop associating the stag with it...I try not to think about it though haha! The tee is 100% cotton and is really soft and comfy to wear. This cute speckled tee also comes in beige and grey! Check out Duchesse Paris here http://duchesseparis.bigcartel.com/, they also have men's tees! :)

The other day I decided to pull out this old Sportsgirl backpack again! I actually got an email asking if I was willing to sell it, and it only reminded me of how much I loved it haha. The little aztec trim and fringe have such a cute boho style and I definitely want to save it up for going out or festival occasions. So if you're reading this, I'm so sorry, I hope you get to find the same backpack somewhere soon! :)

What I'm Happy About Week 4

Morning morning! Here's the fourth installment of my Happiness blog post series! To read about what this series means to me, feel free to check out the first post here :)

1. Wardrobe-ready for winter

From L to R: 'Helena brushed wool biker coat', 'Sophie single breasted coat' in warm berry, powder blue

Right now in Sydney we're in the middle of autumn (or fall), and then it will be winter! So I've been stocking up on winter coats (never mind that I already have a bunch from previous winters, new is always good :)) I find that I always buy the most amazing winter jackets and coats from Forever New! It's often so difficult to find reasonably-priced coats in Australia that are good quality, and also have trendy designs and styles. I'm so glad that I was able to find such amazing coats (all in a single haul!) to get me prepped for the upcoming winter.

'Helena brushed wool biker coat': Forever New
bag: c/o iAnyWear
Monochrome floral skirt: Forever 21
Heart patterned stockings: Glassons
Boots: Lovelyshoes.net

I only modelled one jacket from my Forever New haul so far- the 'Helena brushed wool coat'. The material has a beautiful wool touch and in real life it looks so much expensive than it is ($150 AUD). The zips give it an edgy look and this coat is like the longer, warmer version of my zip biker jackets.

mint green collar top: c/o Sheinside (link here)

And here is the outfit that is hiding underneath the oversize grey coat! Besides being able to wear beautiful coats, colder weather is also a great time to bring out my collection of long-sleeved blouses. This mint coloured one from Sheinside makes a perfect addition, and I love the subtle touch of detail with the metallic collar tips.

2. Fitness progress
Palm trees sports crop top: Cotton On
Shorts: Nike
Mint green sneakers: Cotton On

I have been soooo excited and pleased about this for a while! Lately I have been hitting the gym almost 3-4 times a week, training different areas of my body according to a training program my personal trainer has given me. I've noticed that I've gotten a lot more toned than before in all areas, especially on my arms and legs (which I have been putting more focus on). This makes me really excited because my arms are my biggest problem area (my upper arm strength is ridiculously bad, I couldn't even lift and throw a ball in high school sport) but I have been progressively increasing the weights I lift, and I have been noticing definition in them too! You can't really tell in the photos, but a lot of people have already told me they've noticed definition on my arms! :)

Amazingly I think the muscle training is also affecting my eating habits, where I crave less junk than before and I instead eat a lot of meat everyday (which is going straight to my muscles! :)) I can't believe I spent years not doing any weight training (just trying to diet and using only cardio for exercise), because it actually benefits you in so many ways and can help you achieve a stronger, more toned body much, much better.

3. Unexpected Gifts
'Fabulous' fragrance: Victoria's Secret
Earrings: Neiman Marcus

It always makes me feel so loved to receive random gifts every now and then! A new Victoria's Secret has opened recently near my workplace, and I have been itching to go there. My current perfume is running out and my boyfriend has kindly replaced it for me, with 'Fabulous'. It's the perfect scent for me! It contains juicy currant, osmanthus blossom, and pink freesia. I personally prefer sweet, almost lolly-like scents (I am a die-hard sweet tooth after all!) which are also floral, fresh and light at the same time. There was a 30% sale when my boyfriend bought this for me, and it came down to less than $60 for a 100ml bottle.

I also received a lovely gift when I met up with Kristen from RewardStyle when she visited Australia! This is from Neiman Marcus, a high end department store from the US which now ship to Australia. Thanks so much Kristen, the rich blue colour of the earrings is beautiful!

Spring Halo

'Halo' crochet top: c/o Miss Pixie Fashion (link here)
Daisy shorts: c/o Motel Rocks
White shoes: LovelyShoes.net
Daisy floral head piece: Sportsgirl

Crochet and daisies seems to be a quintessential combination for spring and festival wear, which is perfect timing for all you guys gearing up for Coachella! :) This top falls so perfectly on the body and is really light and airy. It seems like I can't get enough of crochet trim! Besides festivals you can also wear this top over simple denim cut-offs or jeans at the beach, shopping, or relaxed date :)

I love the back of the top! The top would look even more amazing on a lovely tan, for a beautiful contrast with the thin and elegant T-line.

I wanted to post these photos for a few weeks now, but there was something really funky going on when I brightened the pictures! There were strange colour blotches on certain areas and it actually took me a while to get rid of them, although I still have no idea how they formed in the first place. Maybe I need to get my camera lens cleaned haha...

Check out Miss Pixie Fashion for more beautiful pieces like this crochet top! They offer free express shipping within Australia. I'm in love with their pretty, feminine aesthetic- which is definitely my style haha. Check out their Facebook and Instagram as well here! :)

Electric Touch

Scarlet peplum top in Purple floral: c/o St Frock (link here)
Scalloped hem shorts: Gmarket (super old!)
Contrast patent clutch: Zu
Necklace: Lovisa
Cuff: Colette Accessories
Shoes: Novo

How amazing and vibrant is this top from St Frock? I love how bold everything about it is- from the architectural peplum and neckline, and bright digital floral print! It's definitely come to be one of my favourite statement pieces to arrive in my wardrobe.

I love the top from the back especially...the ruffled peplum creates such a beautiful strong silhouette that's both striking and flattering! This top would look amazing over black waxed jeans, leggings or a mid length pencil skirt to make the top pop out. Or you can wear it with simple black shorts like I did! This pair is super old from Gmarket, but I love how they have a scalloped hem for a subtle accent. There's so many options with this top and I think the key is keeping the bottom half understated and tight-fitted, to balance out the silhouette :)

A few weeks ago I introduced St. Frock to you guys in this blog post here! They're a Sydney-based online boutique that stocks heaps of amazing on-trend pieces at great prices, and plus they offer only $5 express shipping within Australia! This 'Scarlet peplum top' actually comes in a range of other shades and in solid colours, here. The structural shape and design is just so flattering and perfect, I pretty much want all of them for my closet haha :)
