Tiny Matters

'PU leather halter neck dress': c/o Lookbookstore (here)
Red jacket: Bardot (old)
Cuff: Lovisa

This is an old look that I didn't get a chance to post until now! The weather was warm enough to bare my legs back then and the leaves still had their red and orange autumn all the trees are bare sticks and don't look half as pretty in the background!

I got this dress from Lookbookstore which has a contrast halter neck and PU leather skirt mixed into one! This would be the perfect dress to take for a night out- just add some accessories and your look is complete. The little black dress always serves as a no-brainer when it comes to dressing up for an event, and with the leather contrast and asymmetrical cut you can be sure your look is never boring.

I've been under the weather and nursing a sore throat at the moment- I hate it when it hurts to talk or eat! Luckily I've quite a strong immune system since I eat healthy and exercise regularly :) I can't wait to get back into exercise though when I'm better. I walked up the stairs from the train station today and just doing that made my throat feel super red and dry :(

Winter Wardrobe with Boohoo

'Kate belted shawl collar coat': c/o Boohoo (here)

Today's entire outfit is brought to you by Boohoo! Boohoo have been one of my favourite British online stores in the last few years because everything is just so ridiculously affordable and on-trend- and I was super excited when they contacted me to do a Winter Wardrobe challenge! Now that the coat is on sale, the whole outfit comes down to only $154AUD in total. I think that's an incredible deal especially when you know a single piece (whether it be the coat, jeans or shoes) could already retail at over $100 elsewhere.

I've really been digging the long line coat trend as of late- it's versatile, warm and flattering! This one from Boohoo comes in 'one size' which means you can lend it to a friend or your mum when you're not wearing it :) The colour I chose was 'stone' but I'm also lusting after it in grey, charcoal and pink! I honestly could not get enough of this coat and in the meantime I actually placed an order for another similar coat here (but in camel colour this time!) I can't wait to receive it!

It was so ridiculously cold that day (Aussies will know what I mean when I say we're going through an arctic vortex!) and being by the water made things even icier. I should've put a smile on my face in the photos but it was that unbearably cold that time I'll look happier I promise! :)

Turtleneck Game

Long sleeve turtleneck top: Kookai
Lace up heels: c/o Shop Calico
Biker faux leather pants: Bardot
Ok someone needs to stop me from buying any more wardrobe is getting completely dominated by pretty high necklines in different colours fitting snugly around the tops of all my hangers. As someone who embraces functionality and is always a fan of killing two birds with one stone, I love the fact you can throw a turtleneck knit on during winter and not have to bother with a scarf! :)
As you may or may not already know from my blog I'm a little bit obsessed with Kookai, and they did a 50% off sale recently which came way too late for me because all the things I wanted to get I had already bought at full price haha. I did however pick up this luscious red top for only $30 (reduced from $100 originally).

I also watched the 'Minions' movie on the weekend with my sister! Usually the case is she picks a movie I'm completely not interested in/unaware of and I'm always being forced to watch it as her dutiful movie companion. Luckily 'Minions' seemed to be right up my alley and I can understand the craze over these adorable yellow pill-shaped things- I need to book an appointment with my sis to see Despicable Me now! :)

Leather and Suede

Infinity scarf: c/o Her Fashion Box (here)
Leather vest: c/o Ash Lapin (here)
Sweater with leatherette cuffs: local boutique store
Banana muffin suede skirt: c/o Stelly (here)
Boots: Verali

All hail the return of the suede skirt! There's a major 70s revival out on the streets these days which people are either loving or hating, but this black A-line button skirt from Stelly should serve to be a versatile wardrobe staple offering plenty of wear. I personally can't get over the scalloped hem on this skirt- it's so cute and feminine! This is my own modest take on the 70's comeback, but I do have an exciting collaboration with ASOS coming up where my project is to channel a certain 70s fashion icon! :)

This is a random note but what I seriously love about Stelly is all the different yummy names they give all their items! For example this skirt is called 'Banana Muffin' and I have another knit from Stelly which I'll be posting soon called 'Strawberry Topping'- how delicious! :) Stelly is an Aussie based online boutique that ships worldwide. I didn't know this originally but they actually have physical stores for us lucky Sydney-siders! Stelly currently set up shop in Chatswood, Erina Fair, Top Ryde and Hornsby.

I got this faux leather vest a long time ago from a blogger's online store called Ash Lapin. It must've been all the way back in 2013 and it was a pleasant surprise that I could still track it and find it still in stock! It's only available in Large though, but with vests like these I don't think there would be a huge discrepancy in sizing.

I also got this infinity scarf from my latest box at Her Fashion Box! I love layering up during the colder seasons and the red is perfect for adding a pop of colour to anything.

Fresh Look

Printed blouse: Forever 21
Grey hat: H&M
Jeans: ASOS
Bag: Kookai
Jacket: Marcs

This grey fedora was a new impulse buy from the (sort of) newly opened H&M store in Sydney. Sometimes when I'm bored out of my wits waiting for my little sister to finish shopping in a huge store, I pull off random accessories from the racks to try on and every now and then, also purchase. I'm glad I got this hat though because fedoras are the kind of hat you can wear in real life out on the streets without being quite as obnoxious as a big floppy hat (which I do love, but it's hard not to feel self-conscious wearing one in public!)

Also I'm wearing what has got to be my 687th pair of ripped jeans to join my collection. I made a huuuge haul on Gmarket recently which I'm posting on my blog soon. This pair from ASOS has rose gold buttons and is mid-rise so that makes it completely necessary and different to my other pairs of white jeans with rips in very similar places, right?

I know pretty much everyone is binge-watching Orange is the New Black so I'm not even going to ask! How insanely good is it? Season 3 is even better than ever and I'm finding one minute I'm laughing my butt off and the next I'm crying. It's funny that all these women have such different backgrounds and lives and got themselves incarcerated, yet you always find some way to relate to them, and match their vulnerabilities and experiences with your own. Episode #10 made me cry so hard and I do think Taryn Manning is starting to emerge as one of the most underrated actresses on the screens right now.

Casual and Comfy

'Breton shift stripe dress': c/o Izabel London (here)
'Apple martini anorak' jacket: c/o Stelly (here)
White faux leather cap: Soles
Shoes: eBay
'Point quartz' Necklace: c/o Day and Night (here)

I've just landed back in Sydney from my snowy trip to Queenstown (New Zealand)! I saw snow for the first time and even did a spot of skiing- which I loved! I got up to Level 3 on my first day hehe but I didn't get a chance to go back to the slopes afterwards. Queenstown is such a beautiful place and the air is so ridiculously fresh and crisp. I'm definitely more inclined towards wintry climates and I would love to go to Canada or somewhere else with snow when it's summer over in Australia.

Trekking through snow and walking everywhere has given me a newfound appreciation for comfy clothes- I would've loved to take this outfit to Queenstown if it were a bit warmer :)! Izabel London sent over this striped shift dress my way and I wore it the day after I arrived back in Sydney. The great thing about shift dresses is they allow you to breathe a little without worrying about your belly like with bodycon dresses (and I definitely indulged a lot on my holiday!). Personally I think shift dresses need to be paired with bare legs or tight leggings so you don't end up looking completely shapeless.

I'm also loving this little gemstone beauty I'm wearing around my neck from Day and Night. There are so many colours to choose from, I kind of want all of them! I chose #2 'sandstone', which is navy with some glitter. Stay tuned for more posts featuring more gorgeous jewellery from Day and Night!

Street Beatnik + Irresistible Me Hair Extensions review

Hat: Nasty Gal
Striped crop top: Boohoo
Grey coat: Marcs
Boots: Boohoo
Faux leather burgundy zip skirt: c/o Walk Trendy (here)

photo credits: Johanes Darius (Facebook, Instagram)

On the weekend I did a photoshoot in the city with Jo! He used a reflector which made such an amazing difference to the photos, by brightening them up with the light bouncing off it, but without that artificial flat look from an artificial flash. I was so pleased with the results! :) Plus he was so good at directing me with my poses!

What I thought was really cool about the photos is that even though they're in Sydney, they sort of had a London vibe to them (until you can see the Harbour Bridge in the background!)

Irresistible Me also sent me these amazingly generous and voluminous hair extensions! I took some photos of the packaging and the 'before' and 'after' of putting them on, which you can see below. I'm also wearing them in these pics from the photoshoot. I only used a two-clip hair piece on the left side of my hair, to add a little bit of volume and bounce.

Irresistible Me Hair extensions
Range: Royal Remy
Length and weight: 22 inch 200 g
Colour: Natural black
With Irresistible Me you can customise the weight and length of your hair extensions you purchase.

I chose 200g, which comes with:
  • 1 pc of 4 clips (7.5 in)
  • 2 pcs of 3 clips (6 in)
  • 5 pcs of 2 clips (4 in)
  • 2 pics of 1 clip (1.2 in)
The Irresistible Me box came with two hair 'bundles' wrapped up in fishnets.

What I was amazed to discover, was that after untying the rubber bands, there were sooo many hair pieces that were actually wrapped up in them! So could you believe that bundle 2. actually unravels itself to all of these nine hair pieces below?

There were so many hair pieces to choose from, and I felt spoilt for choice! As you can see, the Irresistible Me 'Royal Remy' set comes with hair pieces with 1 clip, 2 clips, 3 clips, even 4 clips! The more clips the wider the hair piece and more dramatic the effect it will have on your hair.

Personally, as my hair is already quite long and thick, I used a 3-clip in the back, and two 1-clips on either side of my head. Putting a 3-clip hair piece around the back of your head really helps in lifting up the volume of your crown. Here is a before and after:
So the added volume on the top of my head (the crown) is thanks to the 3-clip that I inserted around the back. I created extra volume on the sides with the 1-clip that I placed on both the left and right sides of my head, which created a subtle but noticeable difference.

Overall, I was really, really pleased with the results I got from the Irresistible Me hair extensions!

They looked natural:
The colour and texture of the hair looked really seamless when mixed in with my natural hair. They're made from 100% human remy hair and you can really feel the authenticity from the very first touch. They have a really decent bounce and weight to them and it was really easy to curl them as well.

The extensions are also designed to be thick from the top to the end, but slightly thinner at the bottom as with your natural hair. They also add an extra treatment to the extensions to give them a really silky feel, as if you've already put on your smoothing serum and hair treatment as you normally do.

They offer a lot of flexibility:
I received so many different hair pieces so I have a lot of flexibility in shaping and styling my hair. If I cut my hair or thin it out I know I have a lot of different hair pieces I can play with to fill out the volume.

It was very easy to choose the right colour:
At first I actually requested the 'chocolate brown' because my natural hair colour is quite light in the sun. But I watched this video on choosing the right hair colour which shows the colour options more clearly in video, and even compares the different shades side by side. I was then able to switch to 'natural black' instead!
